What information do I collect about you?
My office collects personal information that is supplied to me in my role as a Member of Parliament. It includes information supplied by my constituents and others in relation to matters which I have been asked to pursue in the interests of individuals and groups who live in my constituency such as:
- details of specific cases
- information provided by signatories on petitions
- responses to questionnaires
- contact details for the purpose of communicating news and updates
The type of information I may hold about you will include any or all of the following:
- your name
- phone number
- email address
This information is held securely on a password-protected database in accordance with Parliamentary security policy and the law. It will never be passed on to a third party. It will be retained by my office for the duration of my time as Member of Parliament for this constituency although you have the right to ask for it to be removed or ‘forgotten’ at any time.
How will I use the information about you?
If you ask me to pursue a matter on your behalf, I will use your information in order to pursue the matter you have raised with me. My staff and volunteers will normally see this information to find help and advice for you. Your personal and sensitive personal information may be passed to other agencies (for example the Department for Work and Pensions, the CMS, West Berkshire Council) if I believe this to be necessary to pursue the matter you have raised with me. I intend that only the minimum possible personal information will be shared with other agencies, as necessary to assist you.
If you ask me to take action on behalf of a relative I may need to contact that person to confirm that they are happy for me to act on their behalf. If you feel it would not be appropriate for me to contact the other person, you should discuss this with me when you give me their information.
Constituency news and events
I would like to send you information about constituency news and events, but I will not use your contact details to do this unless you have said that you would like to be sent this information. You can sign up for my regular e-newsletter via the subscribe facility on the home page of this website. If you have said that you would like this information, but later change your mind, you have a right at any time to unsubscribe or change your preferences. This will be clearly indicated on my newsletter or you can contact my office direct.
Access to your information, correction and deletion
You can ask to see any information that I hold about you by emailing me at email@example.com. My office will respond within one month. Any updates or inaccuracies will be promptly corrected on request. You have the right to ask for your information to be removed or ‘forgotten’ at any time.
Subject access requests will be responded to within one month. This will normally be free of charge. However, if requests become ‘excessive’ or ‘repetitive’ I reserve the right according to GDPR rules to charge a ‘reasonable’ fee.
Technology may be used to collect statistics on activity on this website. This can include using a ‘cookie’ which will then be stored on your browser. The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings to disable cookies. You can read more here.
