Richard has been urging people to get behind Thames Water’s Be Water Smart Campaign, as temperatures soar to record levels in West Berkshire.

He commented, ‘It may sound surprising but in this area we have rainfall not far off that of some sub-Saharan countries in Africa. We have done a lot of flood alleviation projects in West Berkshire to protect homes and people from that sort of extreme event but it is also vital that we – the Government, the water companies and all of us, as individuals – play our part in managing water better in times of drought.

‘I will continue to do my bit as the local MP to work with the water companies and to make sure that the Government does its bit.’
